SENIOR YEARBOOK PICTURES

All senior pictures need to be given to the yearbook advisor Mr. Gilles in room 410 by Friday, October 8th on a picture CD.  You can take your own picture or have it done by a professional.  Many of the companies will provide a CD for the yearbook advisor with all of the senior portraits on it. 

Anyone wishing to be in the yearbook and not wanting to go to a studio, please see Mr. Gilles in room 410 to schedule a day where he can take your picture.

Guidelines for pictures:

a)        1500 KB or 1.5 MB file size                              c)   Photos need to be on a CD.  No emails or flash drives

      b)   Must be within the school dress code                 d)   Photos should be saved as JPEG file

SENIOR T-SHIRTS/SWEATSHIRTS

The Class of 2016 has Senior T-Shirts &Sweatshirts that will be available later in the Fall to purchase from the Bookkeeper. For more information or details contact the Senior Class Advisor’s- Ms. Ibrahim and Mr. Christiansen

 

SENIOR CLASS RINGS

Class rings packets will be given out on Thursday, October 15th in all Civics/Econ classes. If you do not have Civics/Econ you can pick one up in the MSHS Activities Office in Portable 3. SENIOR BACCALAUREATE

Baccalaureate, coordinated by Madera Youth Network and Youth for Christ, is a religious service connected with Graduation. This is a voluntary non-denominational service that all seniors and their families may attend. 

 

SENIOR GRADUATION SPEECH CONTEST

Any graduating senior who has attended MSHS during his/her entire Junior & Senior year may try out to be a speaker for Graduation. Sign up with any senior class advisor (Ibrahim and Christiansen) and contest will be after school in early May. Two to three speakers will be chosen.

 

2016 SOBER GRAD PARTY

MSHS will have a post graduation event for all graduates. Details of event will be given at a later date. June 10th the community of Madera, the California Highway Patrol and the Class of 2016 have planned a fun, safe, and FREE all night party! Raffle prizes will be given away throughout the night.  The party location is at MSHS between both gyms on June 10th from 10:00pm to 5:00am. Graduates must have their ID for entrance. Guests may attend for a fee of $20, but must be in high school or not above the age of 21.

Scholarships

There are a large number of local scholarships available to MSHS graduates. Each year the Madera Community has sponsored thousands of dollars given to seniors planning to continue their education. Local scholarship information will be made available in the fall & applications are due in January. The Career Center located upstairs in Academic A has more information about the scholarship timeline.

 

Steps to Graduation

CAPS and GOWNS

All seniors will order their cap & gowns on Thursday, October 29th in their Senior Civics/Economic Classes. Packets will also be available in the main office. If you are borrowing a cap and gown, you still must order a tassel. Call Graduate Services Ltd., 431-2541, 344 W. Bedford #104, Fresno, CA 93711. Cap & gowns will be distributed during Senior Activities in April. Please contact your counselor to apply for a free cap and gown for financial hardship. More information will be given for those seniors that would like to rent a cap and gow

 

FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS

All financial obligations must be cleared before tickets to Sadie Hawkins, Winter Formal, Prom, Grad Nite or graduation will be issued. Check your fines now! Students may pay financial obligations any time in the bookkeeper’s office next to the media center.

 

CLEARANCE CARDS

You will receive your clearance card the week of finals in 1st period. You must have it SIGNED by all of your teachers,

the bookkeeper, (next to the media center) before you will take it to the Exit Activity on June 9th.

 

SENIOR GRADUATION EXIT ACTIVITY

Seniors must bring their signed clearance card to the Cafeteria for clearance. The date and time will be announced. All financial

obligations must be cleared BEFORE the counselors will sign off. All seniors must be present for this event in

order to participate in the graduation ceremony.

 

MIGRANT EDUCATION SENIORS

You may be eligible for a free physical, dental and vision exam before you graduate. Please contact the Migrant

Education Office for more information, 675-4500.

Graduation Ceremony- June 10, 7:30pm

 

The Graduation ceremony has been designed by your classmates to be a dignified ceremony. Your dress and

actions must be appropriate to the occasion. Anyone using poor judgment will be removed from the ceremony.

 

TICKETS

Each senior who will be marching will receive 10-12 tickets (tentative) for Graduation. Admission for Graduation is by ticket

only. Tickets will be distributed to the students at graduation practice held on June 10 at 8:00am. If you need extra tickets, you may go to Madera South High AFTER Graduation practice and any remaining tickets will be distributed.

 

PICTURES

The graduating class will be photographed as they receive their diplomas by Van’s professional photographers.

The photos will be available for viewing at Van’s Studio online 24 hours a day. Copies may be

purchased directly from the studio during business hours. For more information, please visit

www.vansphotography.com. Parents and friends of the graduates may take pictures from the stands.

 

Senior Status

Remember you must have 170 credits and HAVE NO FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS (new this year) to be issued a Senior ID that will allow you to go off campus for lunch. Seniors who are behind credits or owe fines will not be given an off campus sticker and will not be allowed to go off campus for lunch. Each quarter grades will be checked and failing grades may result in senior privileges being revoked until eligibility is restored. 

 

Grad Nite 411

 

 

WHERE: Magic Mountain, Valencia, California

 

WHEN: May 26, 2016

 

WHO: Seniors of Madera South High School who are on track to graduate and have cleared all financial

obligations.

 

TIME: Report to the East Gym BEFORE SCHOOL to check in all items that students are taking on the bus. Check in at the East Gym will at 2pm on May 21st. Return between 8:00am and 10:00am on May 22nd at the Academic B Student Parking Lot on Stadium Road. Seniors who attend Grad Nite will not have to report to classes that day.

 

TRANSPORTATION: Charter Buses

 

TICKETS: $160 Includes: Round trip bus fare, A return ticket to Hurricane Harbor, a 6”x8” Kodak photo voucher, entrance to exclusive dinner and dance pre-party from 9:00pm-11:00pm, all you can eat buffet, private dance club and DJ, early entrance to X2, Viper, Revolution, Tatsu, unlimited use of attractions, dancing, and live concert and entertainment.

 

Sales: March 29th -April 15th or until sold out.  Approximately 150 seats are available on 3 charter busses

To buy a ticket, each senior must come in person and bring:

(1) Emergency Procedure Card signed by parent/guardian and Rules Regulation Sheet

(2) Cash/money order for $160 (no checks)

(3) MSHS Senior ID card

 

BUS ASSIGNMENTS: Bus assignments are made at the time of ticket sale. If you want to be on the

same bus with your friends, buy tickets at the same time. Bus seats are reserved on a first come first

served basis.

 

MEDICATION: If a student needs to bring medication, inform MSHS Activities Office, Portable 3

 at least one week prior to event. Students are not allowed to carry medication while in the park.

 

DRESS: Anyone not dressed in accordance with Madera South High dress code and Magic Mountain's guidelines will not be allowed to board the bus, or enter Magic Mountain. (see dress code)

 

BEHAVIOR: Good manners and consideration for others are asked of the graduates to ensure

everyone's fun. No alcoholic beverage/drugs/tobacco will be tolerated. All students will be checked

when boarding buses and again at Magic Mountain. If anyone becomes a serious behavior problem, parents

will be called and asked to pick-up the student. Magic Mountain sets all the rules of behavior, dress and

transportation. No ice chests will be allowed.

 

NOTE: Student must attend periods 1-4 on the date of Grad-Nite.

 

REFUNDS: DUE TO THE LIMITED NUMBER OF SPACES AVAILABLE, REFUNDS WILL ONLY BE GIVEN TO STUDENTS WHO HAVE CONFLICTING SCHOOL ACTIVITIES SCHEDULED FOR MAY 26 OR 27. REFUNDS WILL NOT BE GIVEN FOR ANY OTHER REASON.
