About the School
The opening of Madera South High School in August 2006 was one of the more exciting events for the district in recent memory. It was the culmination of many years of hard work by several individuals within MUSD and resulted primarily out of the passing of a school bond during the November 2002 election. The bond allowed Madera Unified to fund the completion of the construction project that would turn Madera High South Campus -- as the site had operated from 1992-06 -- into a stand-alone high school. Madera South High spans 86 acres in the southern portion of the city and is one of the most state-of-the-art campuses in Central California. The career schools of Agriculture, Human Services and Business, Humanities, and Health Science are all housed at Madera South. The facilities and technology at the site truly make the new high school one of Madera's finest community facilities.
In June 2009, MSHS graduated its first ever senior class. In June 2010, MSHS graduated its first class to have attended Madera South High School for all 4 years. In July 2010, MSHS was informed that they had received a full six-year accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). It took a year of hard work by the whole staff of MSHS to put together the WASC accreditation report.
