    Adult Basic Education Classes

    The Adult Basic Education program provides classes for students to improve their fundamental skills in reading, writing, and mathematics. ABE combines instructional-based learning techniques with supportive educational software such as Aztec and Lexia Core 5. Our program prepares MAS students for secondary education programs and to aide them in the workforce.

    Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification

    This a fee-based class which prepares the student for Certification as a Microsoft Office Specialist.

    Call the Madera Adult School Office for the fee amount. The cost can be broken into individual courses.

    The cost of the certification is an additional cost to the student and is not included in the course fee.

     

     

     

    Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) 

    This course provides students with the knowledge to pass the State Certification test. Approved by the California State Department of Health and Education.

     

    Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

    This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to pass the National Standards Test to become employed as an EMT.

  • Community Education

    Community Education Registration

    2. No personal checks are accepted.  Payment can be made with cash, money order or VISA/MasterCard.

    Community Education Classes, Fees and Refunds

    Community Education classes are entirely fee-based. These classes are entirely supported by fees collected from student enrollments. No tax dollars are authorized to pay for the cost of presenting these classes. Sufficient registration for Community Education classes must be received by two (2) days prior to the start of the class or class may be canceled. Students may be added at the first class meeting if space is available. If you have missed the deadline, call (559) 675 - 4425. The class may still be available. You will be contacted only if the class is canceled or full. We do not confirm registration.

     

    Refund Policy

    If a class is canceled by Madera Adult School Community Education, a full refund will be issued. If the participant requests a refund at least two weeks prior to the class, a refund will be issued, less a $10 processing fee. This request must be in writing; please allow 4-6 weeks for processing. Once a class begins, no refunds will be issued.

  • English as a Second Language (ESL)

    English as a Second Language Classes

    English as a Second Language classes assist MAS students in learning the English language. Our ESL program supports our students building of their fluency in reading, writing, and conversation skills. The ESL classes range from Pre-Lit to Advanced. Our ESL students are prepared to transition to other MAS programs, the ESL courses from Madera Community College Center, the workforce, and college.

  • High School Diploma (HSD)

    High School Diploma Classes

    The high school diploma program offers our students a blended-learning experience in the classroom, where they are provided individualized learning with the online software of Edgenuity and teacher-guided one-on-one assistance or group instruction based on the subject matter. Courses for high school credit are available for adults seeking to earn their high school diploma.

  • High School Equivalency Test (HiSET)

    1. IN PERSON: Come to the Administration Office at Madera Adult School, 2037 West Cleveland Ave, Madera, CA 93637. OFFICE HOURS: Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m., Wednesday and Thursday 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., and closed on Fridays.
    2. No fees for the classes. The exams are fee-based (see the cost for HiSET). 

     

    HiSET Classes

    The High School Equivalency Test classes effectively prepare students for all five sections of the HiSET. Our HiSET classes are taught in an interactive, self-paced learning environment in an instructional lab setting. Students receive individually designed lessons, as well as whole-group and small-group instruction. The course content covers all five of the high school equivalency subjects: Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics. In the classroom, students use Aztec Software and DCS HiSET Prep Online are programs to assist them in their preparation for each of the exams.
