Dear Parkwood Parents and Community,

Thetime of the year your child and their teacher has worked so hard toward iffinally here.  Starting on Tuesday,April 23, Parkwood students in second through sixth grade will be taking theCalifornia Standards Test (CST). Students will receive a level of Advanced, Proficient, Basic, BelowBasic or Far Below Basic based on how they perform in the areas of Reading andMath, and Science for Fifth grade. Our goal for your child has been to move up a level each year untilproficient or advanced, and once there, for a perfect score of 600.  

Withthat said, during the assessment window, I would like to ask your for yoursupport with the following:

-Make sure your child gets a good night sleep.

-Make sure your child has a good breakfast at home orhere at school.  Breakfast stopsserving at school at 7:45 a.m.

-Make sure your child comes to school on timeeveryday.

-Continue to encourage your child throughout thetest, and ask how it was.

These are the little things that make a huge difference, andI am sure your child will have a great advantage as they proceed throughouttheir testing.
