My name is Bonnie Kalina, and I have been teaching in Madera Unified since 2000. I have been married for 16 years and we have two sons, a daughter, and two wild dogs. I lived in Colorado as a child and moved to Fresno when I was 12 years old. I graduated from Bullard High School and got my bachelor’s degree and teaching credential from Fresno State. While going to college I was an aide for a disabled student at his elementary school. The four years I spent working with him made a huge impact on me and shaped the kind of teacher I always want to be. My parents say that I started saying I would be a teacher when I was in kindergarten. That is all I ever remember wanting to be. When I’m not teaching, my favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. I also enjoy doing crafts and photo projects, shopping, baking, reading, and going on trips with friends or family. I hope my students know that I care about each and every one of them and I have faith that they can be anything they dream to be with hard work and dedication. I love serving Madera families everyday and am proud to be a Howard bulldog!
