A Message from Principal, Michelle Angus

Welcome to Furman Independent Study!  In Independent Study, teachers support students’ learning through a variety of means so that students are able to learn successfully in more of an independent learning environment.  This means your students’ teachers will support your students through daily Zoom meetings, extra opportunities for online or in-person support, MUSD adopted curriculum and various digital applications.

Furman Independent Study is a school of choice.  This means that both parents and students will choose the school and agree to certain terms of enrollment.  In Independent Study, students get attendance credit for work submitted on time.  They receive credit for daily live interaction for time spent on Zoom/Google Meet.  When choosing Independent Study, your family is choosing this different type of education for your students.  

Our caring and supportive staff are here to help support your students.  Our teachers are credentialed and ready to help your students grow and reach their full potential through their Independent Study experience.  This includes the ability to transition to Furman High School after 8th grade.
