Mighty Monroe Parents & Community!
James Monroe’s dedicated staff is a collaborative faculty who is committed to the academic, social, and emotional needs of all its students. The teachers, front office staff, support staff, and administration continuously engage with our students, parents, district office personnel, local businesses, and the Mighty Monroe community to motivate and inspire lifelong learning in our students.
The entire staff implements a positive learning environment, so all students are motivated and successful. The Monroe staff also focuses on a positive environment where there is a commitment to building connections and relationships with our students and their families. Each day, the school is promoting our “PAWS-itive” behaviors and expectations, for positive student behavior, attitude, and safety. PAWS, which represents Personal best, Accountability, Wise choices, and Showing Respect, is part of the school’s Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports (PBIS), which also builds leadership skills and encourages students to motivate and help themselves, as well as others.
The Monroe staff is committed to meeting the needs of every student. We provide differentiated instruction and have high expectations for all students. The school has implemented school wide initiatives in the area of language arts and mathematics. Along with the academic studies the students are involved in, they also have many opportunities to participate in art, music, and physical education classes. There are many activities offered before and after school. These activities include: Sports Teams, Band, Choir, Orchestra, Good News Club, Monroe Walking Club, Mathletics, Extended Learning Academy, and the After School Program (ASP). The use of technology is also integrated into our classrooms through the use of Promethean boards, document cameras, IPads, and Chromebooks.
Monroe always welcomes and invites parents and community members to be part of and attend School Site Council (SSC), Title 1, and English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) Meetings. There are also opportunities to volunteer in your child’s classroom, chaperone a field trip when available, and be part of and support the James Monroe Parent Club. Also, please consider attending various workshops and presentations that are geared for parents and families.
James Monroe strives for a school environment of excellence, professionalism, and including all stakeholders in the school’s events. I expect to have another exciting and fulfilling school year.
Respectfully,
Mr. Leonard Perez
Principal
