Madera Unified League of Elementary Schools
MULES SEASON 3: Volleyball & Cross Country
The calendar of events will be modified at times of identified inclement weather conditions.
No cuts will be made in cross country. However, only the top 10 runners from every participating grade level and gender at each school will move on to the championships.
No cuts will be made in volleyball. However, only the tournament teams participate in the district championships.
Athletes of character will be identified and awarded certificates by the opposing team.
The MULES character trait of focus during the cross country and volleyball season is gratitude: the quality of appreciating people or things, or doing something good to make others feel happy. An attitude of gratitude is displayed when athletes say thank you, appreciate quality, work hard, do NOT give up, show kindness to others, and display a “growth mindset”.
Examples of gratitude include: (1) cheering on runners from ALL schools during a race, (2) encouraging and thanking ALL runners for good competition, (3) high fiving teammates after a play to acknowledge the process of hard work, (4) positively accepting the outcome of a game (win or loss) because something new was learned from experiences in the game, and (5) shaking hands and thanking the opposing team for a good game because challenge makes us stronger and smarter.
