At MULES Wrestling, we believe that success goes far beyond wins and losses. Each season, we focus on building strong character in our athletes. This season’s featured trait is RESPECT — the ability to interact with others in a way that shows care for their feelings, wishes, rights, and traditions.

RESPECT is not just a word we say — it's a value we show every day, on and off the mat. Here are 10 practical ways our wrestlers demonstrate respect throughout the season: (1) Give 100% Effort – Follow the rules and traditions of the sport with full commitment.   (2) Recognize Opponents’ Work – Acknowledge the dedication and discipline it took for your opponent to compete.  (3) Show Sportsmanship – Make eye contact and shake hands before and after matches.  (4) Listen to Coaches – Apply coaching strategies with focus and determination.  (5) Support Teammates – Cheer each other on and avoid “trash talk” or negative comments.  (6) Help Opponents Off the Mat – Offer a hand to an opponent after a hard-fought match.  (7) Respect Officials – Accept referees’ decisions as part of the learning process.  (8) Accept Outcomes with Grace – Win humbly and lose with dignity.  (9) Learn from Losses – Use setbacks as motivation to improve and train harder.  (10) Practice Positive Self-Talk – Stay mentally strong with affirmations like:  “I’ve got this. I can handle this. I am prepared.”

We encourage our parents and coaches to reinforce these messages at home, in the stands, and during practice. When we model and support respectful behavior, we help our young athletes become stronger competitors and even better people.

Thank you for being part of the MULES family and for helping us grow champions with character!

At MULES Wrestling, we believe that success goes far beyond wins and losses. Each season, we focus on building strong character in our athletes. This season’s featured trait is RESPONSIBILITY — having the ability to do the things one is expected to do and accepting the consequences of one’s actions.  It is the quality of being reliable and trustworthy.

Examples of responsibility include: (1) Following rules with a positive attitude with 100% effort. (2) Displaying self-motivation. (3) Actions, emotions, and behaviors are consistent on and off the court.  They help the team. (4) Executing plays that help the entire team meet their full potential. (5) Trusting teammates and accepting assigned roles on the court. (6) Listening to coaches' suggestions and immediately applying new learning on the court.  Constant reminders are not needed. (7) Seeing set-backs as learning opportunities. (8) Respecting officials, teammates, opponents, coaches, and spectators through actions and words. (9)  Positively accepting the outcome of an event (win or loss).  (10) Shaking hands and thanking the opposing team for good competition.

We encourage our parents and coaches to reinforce these messages at home, in the stands, and during practice. When we model and support responsible behavior, we help our young athletes become stronger competitors and even better people.

Thank you for being part of the MULES family and for helping us grow champions with character!
