The MULES character trait of focus during the basketball season is responsibility: having the ability to do the things one is expected to do and accepting the consequences of one’s actions. It is the quality of being reliable and trustworthy.
Examples of responsibility include: (1) Following rules with a positive attitude with 100% effort. (2) Displaying self-motivation. (3) Actions, emotions, and behaviors are consistent on and off the court. They help the team. (4) Executing plays that help the entire team meet their full potential. (5) Trusting teammates and accepting assigned roles on the court. (6) Listening to coaches' suggestions and immediately applying new learning on the court. Constant reminders are not needed. (7) Seeing set-backs as learning opportunities. (8) Respecting officials, teammates, opponents, coaches, and spectators through actions and words. (9) Positively accepting the outcome of an event (win or loss). (10) Shaking hands and thanking the opposing team for good competition.
