.Class Scheduling: Students are assigned to attend one or two complete days of the week with the option of in-person or virtual/online instruction. Class sessions are about 68 minutes long from 8:00-2:58 on Tuesdays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Students get lunch from 12:00-12:30 am and a break at 1:38 pm. Furman provides students with both lunch and breakfast items.
Early Release: Mondays are early release days on which we conduct our SOAR (Success-Opportunity-Advancement-Resiliency) Supplemental Support Academy in order to provide students with additional intervention, support, and/or enrichment in content areas. We also use this time, after students are released from their classes, to conduct professional learning for staff and professional learning community (PLC) meetings. Class sessions are 1 hour on Mondays, starting at 9:00 a.m. to12:00 noon. Students take lunch from 12:00 to 12:30. Monday is considered an extra day/time for students to receive additional support.
Teacher Assignments: Teachers are certified to teach within their content areas of science, math, social science, English, and electives. So far, we have two teachers teaching English and Art, two teachers teaching social sciences, two math teachers teaching Integrated Math 1, Math 2 and 3, a science teacher teaching Living Earth and Chemistry and the earth, and one online teacher using the Edgenuity platform offering courses within all content areas, languages, and elective courses.
