James Monroe Elementary School Home of the Mighty Bears
California Dairy Council Visits Monroe
Last week, students here at James Monroe Elementary were treated to a real, live experience with a dairy cow. With thanks and appreciation to Mrs. McEwen for setting the assembly up and arranging all the details, the California Dairy Council came here on Wednesday.
The Mobile Dairy Classroom, which is California’s original farm to-school program. The Mobile Dairy Classroom brings agriculture right to the school, teaching students new vocabulary, the anatomy of a cow, how milk goes from the couch to the table, and the importance of healthy eating and physical activity.
It is part of the “Let’s Eat Healthy” initiative, which elevates The health of children and families through the pursuit of lifelong healthy eating habits. The awesome presenter was Mishael McDougal, and students were treated to the live experience of a jersey cow, named Valentine. It was an educationally enlightening and entertaining time for both students and staff!
